A seemingly new executive course just outside urban Woodstock, Ontario. A very nice clubhouse area and an exceptionally nice practice area including grass tee areas and many target greens to choose from. A Golf School is also provided, chipping green, putting green, and a nine hole pitch and putt, which is something I hardly ever see. If I lived in the Woodstock area this is where I would go to practice my game!
The course design was fairly nice which sported fairly short holes with wide fairways. However, wayward tee shots will put you in some heavy rough or have you negotiating one of the hundreds of small trees interlacing the course as there were really no forested areas.
There is nothing to special about the par 3's, not many water features or bunkers. Generally a nice easy course where you really can't lose a ball. The greens were nice and big, very receptive, very smooth and about medium speed. There wasn't a lot of slope to them, although some of them had some nice little breaks to them. It would probably be a really good place to learn golf for beginners or just plain high handicappers. The more experienced ball strikers may want to go elsewhere to really test their skills. |

Situated around the Grand River and on the backside of a subdivision, it was somewhat of an enjoyable course to play. Featuring 27 holes and a driving range, The Moors nine was the lesser of the three in regards to the subdivision that comes a little too close to the course for my liking.
No fences or trees to block any of the household noise like somebody trying to start their lawnmower in the middle of your backswing. It was a pretty flat layout, but had some very solid holes that just spoke a traditional style golf course.
There are quite a few large and old forested areas and some pristine holes along the Grand River. The Fairways were surprisingly not that wide, and a lot of heavy rough, but still room for some wayward tee shots.
The greens were a little faster than I expected, not like lightning but very enjoyable with some of the slopes and feeder pin positions. They were medium sized greens and had some pretty decent bunkers surrounding them.
Some of the tee blocks and greens were a little to close together for my liking, and the teenage help wasn't aware that we would be rerouted as they were hosting a golf tournament and didn't want to start us in the middle of it. I had already put my ball of the tee before a lady seemingly to be in charge escorted us to the Moors, the lesser of the 3.

This is one of the few courses I've played that lists a lake in their name and actually has one in the middle of an 18 hole course! Woodington Lake offers nothing but challenging championship style holes all leaning towards this lake.
The Legend Course has enormous, fast and sloping greens, with a superb finishing hole. However this elevated tee, which overlooks the course, presents the challenge of avoiding the lake!
Parking lot courtesy pick up and quality service are some of the added bonuses included in paying twice the price of normal green fees.
